1. Make sure that you have
A. USB->miniUSB cable (5pin)
B. You still have your V3M
C. PC or MAC (to my shame, I still use PC, so any further instructions are given for this platform)
D. And finally, you should have the original picture you would like to be displayed on your phone's screen as a wallpaper or just in a library (personally I like my "Romeo and Juliet", rj.jpg, the most, which I made during my trip to New York in 2005):
2. Now you may start. First of all, you need to resize you image to Razr's native resolution: 176x220 pixels. Feel free to select any image editor, or just play with the most powerful and unique tool in the software market - MS Paint:. As an output you will get something like rjmobile.jpg on your HDD:
You may prepare as many images as you want later, but now hurry up to put the first one on your phone.
3. Skip this section if you already have V3M drivers installed on your PC. If not, you should download and install drivers first:
A. Download the driver here
B. Connect V3M to your PC using cable and install the driver
C. Make sure you have "Motorola USB modem" device properly installed:
4. Now you need a utility to open file system of your V3M. I suggest you to go to Bitpim site and get the latest version of BitPim software (you can also use the following direct link for stable 1.0.5 version: Bitpim ver. 1.0.5)
5. Now when you have BitPim downloaded and installed you can start configuring it.
A. At the first start BitPim offers you to detect your phone, just click "OK" here:
B. Then you need to open "File system" of the phone. Go to View menu and select "View Filesystem"
C. Click Filesystem icon in the main tree. It will entail Filesystem tree opening.
D. Within the file system tree browse to /motorola/shared/picture/ and select any of your old pictures made by this phone (you may also create dummy ones in advance). In my case it is "MT 0239.jpg":
E. Select picture, right click on it and delete (you won't be able to restore this image, so be careful selecting it, or create some dummy ones in advance).
F. Now, it is the most important step. Rename the file you prepared on you HDD to the name of the file you have just deleted. In my example: rjmobile.jpg is renamed to MT 0239.jpg.
g. Almost done, now drag&drop MT 0239.jpg to the folder /motorola/shared/picture/
6. That's all. Disconnect the phone from your PC and browse phones' pictures gallery for new picture with an old name. It should look like:
